***** Rider Grouping System *****
When you register for this program you will need to select a rider level that you feel is appropriate for your rider. Kids rider level descriptions can be found here
We also have a pictorial glossary here to help explain the various bike set ups and bike relevant terms mentioned within the rider level descriptors.
Our rider levels are replacing our previous system of grouping by age. The new system will enable us to form groups based on; bike set up, confidence, current riding experience, and current skill level. Age will still be a consideration, but generally only used for guidance. The system will enable us to move riders across our groupings as they progress and develop their skills!
If you are unsure on where your rider should be placed, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss.

This is a new offering for Trailhead… adding the element of adventure and outdoor play, into the journey of learning fundamental mountain bike skills. This is a program just for our Rad and Flow Riders and includes:
- Connecting with La Larr Ba Gauwa on Djaara country through outdoor nature play activities e.g. art activities; scavenger hunt; team challenges using found objects & bikes
- Fostering connections with self, other and nature
- MTB skills – fun group, activities that build essential skills (body position, stability and ability to operate controls efficiently and safely)
- Developing your rider’s ability to ride the purpose-built mountain bike terrain at La Larr Ba Gauwa with confidence, safety and with control
- Designed and planned to progress the fundamental skills sets, therefore it is essential that the 2 sessions are completed consecutively
- Includes plenty of trail and play time at La Lar Ba Gauwa park for progression and consolidation of skills learnt
- This extended 3-hour session includes time for a short BYO snack/food break
*Note this program is very flexible in regards to the ratio of riding and adventure activities. The terrain at La Larr Ba Gauwa is challenging for newer riders and only has one ‘Green’ or beginner trail so for less confident riders there is limited terrain that we are able to use, hence the inclusion of additional adventure and nature play activities. Where possible our experienced coaches will provide options so that students can have some choice on what they participate in throughout their session.
Groups will be formed based on our rider levels. We maintain a coaching ratio of 1:6 which allows us to safely manage our riders and importantly to maximize learning time where we prioritize providing specific individual feedback.
- When: Thursday 3rd & Friday 4th of October 2024
- Meet: La Larr Ba Gauwa Park, Harcourt
- Time: 9am –12pm
- Cost: $165.00 Inc GST per rider (2 x 3hr sessions)
If a day of the program needs to be rescheduled due to weather, this will fall on the day after the program concludes.
